DECANTER is a classic Jeanneau sailing yacht from the 80's. We have sailed her regularly around the Greek Islands for the past 7 summers, which has been a lot of fun. She is lifted out of the water each winter and lovingly maintained. At present she is still in the water and due to come out in Kilada(Peloponnesse-2hrs from Athens) at the end of October.This yacht is very well fitted out and ready to sail.

An opportunity to purchase a Catalina 42 mkII Blue Water Cruising Yacht for a very attractive price. This boat has been professionally valued by three brokers and is offered for sale at £85000. The Brokers require somewhere between 8% & 10% commission for their work. We are therefore seeking to sell the boat privately and the potential savings of between 8% & 10% can be shared between seller & purchaser, a win win situation.
This Yacht was imported new in 1996 from America to Catalina Yachts Hamble Point Marina, the Catalina Agents in the UK. She was then sailed to the Greek Islands professionally, and has spent the rest of her time there, based in Lefkas. She has been serviced & maintained professionally by Contract Yacht Services in Lefkas with the exception of the last 3 years when her present owner has maintained and serviced her. She is in very good condition both internally and externally with many new items in 2008 & 2009, foam mattresses and covers, cockpit cushion covers, bimini frame and cover, all batteries plus many more.
This Off Shore cruising boat has earned an international reputation as the leader in her class. Design, cruising performance, and comfort, all make the Catalina 42 the first choice of sailors worldwide. “Spirit Of Tain” is the Two Cabin Pullman version, which offers the traditional mid-ship placement of the owner’s stateroom and spacious head forward with stall shower.
She is a handsome boat in excellent condition both internally and externally that offers excellent accommodations, solid performance, and good value for buyers looking for a cruiser, livaboard or club racer in this size range.
All sailors want speed under sail, easy motion and sure, predictable handling characteristics. The elliptical rudder is large and balanced, ensuring control in all conditions, whether under sail or power. The hull design is high volume, and easily driven, with a fine entry, firm midship section, and smooth run aft terminating in a modified reverse transom. The step down boarding platform has a fold-down swim ladder and two lockers that also serve as seats. Impressive speed under power is realized by the dependable four-cylinder diesel engine. Complete access to all power plant maintenance areas is quick and convenient.
The Catalina 42 mkII deck was designed with short-handed sailing in mind. All the halyards, the ball bearing main- sheet and the single line main reefing controls are led to the cockpit and positioned for ease of operation from under the Spray Hood when necessary. The wide weather decks and inboard shroud base make passage forward easy and secure. Mainsheet furling is provided by in mast. Generous storage and tankage allow for extended cruising possibilities. Two heads, each with their own holding tank, allow you to spend more time offshore. Excellent light and ventilation are provided naturally from aluminium framed opening hatches and ports. Numerous recessed halogen lights offer an inviting ambiance. Recognized the world over as the number one production sailboat over 40 feet, the Catalina 42 is the boat dreams are charted on.
The interior is good-looking with teak & holly sole and extremely comfortable. Forward is the main cabin with Pullman berth under-berth storage bureau hanging locker settee and private head with shower. The saloon is open with horseshoe settee dining table nav’ station full galley and head compartment. The galley is equipped with a stainless steel three-burner range with oven and grill, new in 2008, top loading Frigoboat Keel Cooler 12v and solid surface counter top with stainless steel double sinks. The aft cabin features a double berth under-berth storage hanging locker and dresser with bureau. The guest head compartment is located starboard aft of the galley.
On deck there is a very spacious aft cockpit with bimini, wraparound seating, cockpit fold-down table and centreline pedestal helm. Electronics include: depth sounder autopilot Ritchie compass and VHF radio.
